Dr. updates

I went to the dr. today to get the results of the MRI. It seems that since my hip is in place now by back is starting to heal. No surgery and no back brace! WOO HOO!!! My vertebrae is healing just fine and correctly, but will take a lot of time. I have to go to Physical Therapy 3 days a week here in Neosho for a month. My muscles are so weak in that area and in SI so we have to strengthen them so no more damage will happen. I go M, W, TH's. I have another dr. appt. on Nov. 25. He gave me 2 different meds to take, one of which is 900 mg (oh geez). So, all is good and I'm happy that nothing is serious. As stubborn as I am, the brace thing wouldn't have gone far with me if anywhere. Thank you for all those who were concerned and sent me kind little notes. All were greatly appreciated. I will be sure to update my progress and will post after my first PT appt.

Tony is out of town again this week but will be home on Fri just in time for Trick-or-treaters. School has been really stressful and the kiddos have been wild. Maybe these meds will do me some good..lol. I hope everyone is doing well.

Back updates

Since my last appt. the doc. scheduled me an MRI on 22nd. My kiddos at school all knew my hip was hurting and had been going to the dr. Well last Friday, they asked me what the dr. said. I told them my back was broke. 4-year olds can't grasp that, so I drew a picture of my head, spine, vertebrae (with one broken). The got that, then they wanted to know how it happened. I drew pictures of that well (my house, barn, yard, car, truck) and talked them through the events. They were all very interested and were able to tell the whole story back. Needless to say, told their parents all of it. I told them about my next appt. (MRI) and that I was in a big tube. Everyday until Wed. they'd ask if I'd gone in the tube yet. Very fascinated by all of this! So, Wed. was the big day. However, my day really didn't go as I had planned. Originally, it was just supposed to be me going to the dr. I had 2 appts. that day. One, you all don't need to know about about and the 2nd the MRI. I got ready to leave my house and my tire pressure light came on. It'd done it before and we just turned it off. The tire had been low so I thought I'd better get it checked. I was taking a half-day off anyway. Mind you it was absolutely pouring that day. Brooke, being the great friend she is took off and met me at Wal-mart and left my car to be checked over and get the tired rotated. The 1st dr. appt went well. Oct. is a busy month for babies. The dr. across the hall had to leave and go deliver 4 babies. Anyway, after the 1st appt. we walked down the hall for my next one (MRI). We were rather early and figured we'd have to wait. Got all the paperwork filled out and paid my $250. The girl that was going the MRI's was a girl I went to hs school and really didn't care for and still don't particularly. Anyway, they called me back and got changed and laid on the table thingy. It only took about 20 min. They put ear plugs in my ears. Good thing! It was very loud and the whole time it just clicked and made weird sounds. It felt like being in a tanning bed except there were no lamps. It wasn't bad at all. Afterwards, they gave me a cd to take to my dr. I have my next appt. next Wed. @ 3:00 to go over the results. In the meantime I'm in pain and there's nothing to fix it! My luck they'll say oh you've been like this for 4 months, you'll be fine..lol. So we went to get my car and my tire had a hole in it. I had road hazard so I got a new tire and only had to pay $9. That wasn't bad at all. So there's everything in a nut-shell I guess. My parents and Steph get home from their cruise tomorrow. We found a dead mouse this morning (now I know what the smell was in office). Tony came home just in time!!! Now, he's off fixing the garage door. Tomorrow we're having Brooke and George over for Brooke and Tony's b-days. Brooke's as the 20 and Tony's was the 21st. I'm making him German food like I do every year and Brooke her cupcake.

Uh-oh!!!

So today was my appt. with the orthopedic dr. Honestly, I didn't go in expecting the outcome I received. The dr. came in and messed with my leg a little. He asked if I'd had x-rays done previously (yeah.. 4 months ago) and asked if they x-ray'd my back as well. I said no. So, I went and had x-rays of my hip and back. Not 10 min. later he walks into the room and says your hip is fine. It had stayed in place since my last chiro. appt on Mon. However, he showed me my back x-ray. Low and behold my back is broken!!!!!!! Oh geez! I really did it this time. I could clearly see it on the x-ray. My 3rd disc has a big crack on the corner and there is a big gap between the disc and the broken piece. Obviously it hadn't started healing itself in the last 4 months. Now it all makes since!!! This explains why my back had been hurting. All along, I thought it was hurting because of my hip. My hip was dislocated because the way I'd been walking for 4 months. Since my hip was put back in on Mon. my back has been absolutely killing me. Pain that I can't stand. Since my hip is in place, my back is now where it should be and all the pressure now is on my back and on the broken part. Maybe I like the dislocated hip better. So I have to have an MRI done sometime next week. I'm not sure what they will do after that. Some say fuse it together and some say taken the broken piece out. All I know is I've never been in so much pain in my life. Wearing my high heels everyday I'm sure hasn't helped the matter and picking up my kids at school. Needless to say, I didn't get the news I was hoping to hear. I'm not sure what I was expecting to get out of the appt. but a broken back is not it! It really kind of makes me mad, that went I went for x-rays in June they only did my hip and not my back. If they had, I might not be in this world of hurt or at least it would've been taken care of sooner. Sometimes dr,'s are stupid people!!!! There ya have... what was a hip problem is now a back problem. I called my chiro and told him. He said that explains why I'd still been in so much pain and why my back was swollen. Which makes since! So as soon as I know more I will post it!

Engagment Pics/Dr. appt.

Well, today has been a busy busy day. School was a mess; the kiddos were wound up (full moon). I woke up today and my hip really wasn't that sore. As the day went on, it got worse. I decided to call an orthopedic dr. After making a few phone calls I got a hold of one and explained my situation. She said she'd call me back later. I now have an appt. Friday @ 9:15. The dr. wants to see me (imagine that). Hopefully it'll go okay; I'm going to cancel my chiro appt. for Thurs. I spent after school running around Joplin getting Tony's b-day presents since they were done. I also went and got our engagment pics. Here they are:

Updates

First, I'll start with the hip stuff. Since I went to the chiro last Thursday, not a whole lot has changed. I was still in pain over the weekend and my hip had become dislocated again. The pain never really did go away, but I blocked it out as much as I could. I laid around all weekend on the couch with my ice pack. Today, I went to work and that was the most movement I'd done since Thurs. I went to the chiro today after school. Of course he said it was out. It took longer to put back; he pushed and shoved on me every which way. He shocked my muscles again. However, now we have issues. He is perplexed; leave it to me to leave the chiro confused. Once he put my hip back in, my leg should be straight. It's not, my hip is in but my leg is crooked. He knee hurts and had but I attributed it to the hip thing. He asked if I'd ever had any knee problems and I said no. He's not sure what's wrong or going on. My leg should be straight and it's not. Everyone has it a little off, but mine is way off. I go back Thursday and may have to go for a while until my body will accept my hip in the right place. So, I'm not sure what to do. He thinks I injured my knee at some pt. I very well could have in the truck accident and like I said attributed all the pain to my hip. Sallie (my boss) thinks I need to go get a 2nd opinion as in an orthopedic dr. She doesn't believe in chiro's. Another person says to go back to my reg. dr. (who told me I was fine). I don't know what to do. The chiro is going to cost my a pretty penny ($30 a visit) and Thurs. will make $90 in a week. If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears (well eyes in this case). It sucks cause Tony's gone and my parents are gone so I'm having to function on my own in severe pain. I don't want to have to be in pain forever. I don't know if it's all my hip or if my knee or what; not sure if I do need to go somewhere else to go deeper into this.
As far as Tony being gone, we received a phone call Sat. night that his uncle was found in his driveway. He had a massive h. attack and passed away. Tony left for FL on Sunday and will be back home on Thurs. I was really bummed I couldn't go as I felt I needed to be there for Tony (he's a rough few months with deaths in the family). I couldn't get off work for 1 and with my hip and an airport not a good combo. However, he's done well he found a flower girl for our wedding. So that's a plus! He get to see his family some of which it's been a while.
With all that being said, I need to go back to my assumed position on the couch with my ice. Tomorrow will be just as bad as Friday! UGH!!! Like I said any opinions or suggestions would be appreciated!!!

Hip update!

Since the field trip incident from jumping off the wagon my hip has hurt worse than it had before. Really, it never had stopped hurting (it's been 4 months since the truck accident). A co-worker insisted I go see a Chiropractor. I made an appt. with the local guy in Seneca and went yesterday. His response was "Oh My... " I said what do you mean, he said that's all I can say without saying something not nice. Apparently, my hip was dislocated and had been for 4 months. YIKES!! No wonder it was still hurting. Dr.'s only look for breaks, cracks, etc.. So they didn't catch that on the x-ray. 4-months later it still shouldn't be hurting from the bruise. So he hooked me up to a machine that shocks the muscles. He told me tell him when the intensity got too much. He cranked it all the way up and I still said nothing. He told me most people would've told him to stop a long time ago and it was up as high as it would go. It felt like I was getting a whole bunch of little tattoos. He left that on for about 10 min. Then it came time to put my hip in it's place. Nothing seemed to work it was that bad. I had to keep rolling over and finally after 4-5 times it went. Boy was it loud but felt better. However, he said tomorrow (today) I would be in so much pain like I'd been hit by a truck again. Boy was he ever right. He said to stay off it, lay down, and keep ice on it. He said I would need to go back next week and have it done again. Since it'd been out for 4 months my body isn't used to be in it's right place so my body would pop it out again. Oh geez!!!! Last night I laid on the couch with ice. I could feel it hurting. Today, I woke up in the worst pain I'd ever felt (worse than my surgery). I didn't want to go to work and Tony didn't want me to either. It was picture day so I felt I needed to go. It took forever to get ready. Needless to say I didn't last all day as I'm home typing this. I lasted as long as I could. Now it's time for the ice, couch, and tv. Tony was so nice and made dinner last night; we'll see how 2 nite goes. I'm glad I went to the chiro and found out what was wrong; honestly I probably wouldn't have done anything about it otherwise. The dr's just said it was still healing.. BS!!! Anyway, I learned my lesson! Granted I learned it the hard/painful way!!! Dislocated hips hurt! The chiro said that I was the worst he'd seen and was very surprised that something else hadn't happened because of this. No kidding! That was best $30 I've ever spent! I just hope the pain goes away! For now, adios! Glad we're staying home this weekend!

Fall

Fall is my favorite season. I love the cooler weather and the how nature looks and the changes that take place. The trees are beautiful and this is great weather.
Not a whole lot has gone on since my last post. Tony came home from NY on Friday night. Sat. morning we had our engagement pictures taken at Smith Photography in Joplin. I will post them when we get them (that should be later this week). They turned out great (what we picked out). Sat. afternoon Tony had planned (without me knowledge) to go to the Tulsa fair with Brooke and George. He knew I had been wanting to "go away" and get away from things. He kept bringing up the Ferris Wheel (he said I was hopeless romantic and thought it would be nice to do). We left from Miami, OK around 3:15 and got to the fairground around 4:30 or so. However, being the next to last day it was PACKED. So packed that we drove through one of the parking lots for 45 min. and still no place to park. Tony.. didn't want to pay $5 to park across the street at the mall and walk. Oh, did I forget to mention I had to pee and had to do so since we were in Miami. It was now to the point I really really really had to go. Tony had the bright idea to try the other parking lot... yeah right. We sat in a traffic line for 30+ min and went about 1/2 a block if that. Finally, I got so aggravated that Brooke gave me $5 to go park in the mall parking lot. Thank you Brooke!! Nice to see who loves me more!!! We parked and walked quickly to find a b. room. What did we find?? Port-a- potties.. YUCK! I would rather pee outside and after going in the ones we used outside looked a whole lot better and more sanitary. Brooke absolutely LOVED the one she went in.

We walked around and looked at what all there was. We saw all the arts/crafts/vendors there. We watched the piggy races... how cute they were. I wanted to go to the rodeo and see Gary Allen, but it was sold out. We ate Indian Taco's for dinner... YUMMY!. I love Indian Fry bread as it is. Brooke and I had choco. frozen bananas for dessert. We got our pictures taken holding a tiger and then with some sea lions. The money paid for pics went to a good cause and who can resist a baby tiger.
Tony has decided we need a pet...a pocket pet nonetheless. There was a vendor set up with these little guys. It is a Sugar Glider. It's a marsupial that can glide 150 ft. They are very cute. I wish I had taken a pic. but they spend most of their time in the guy's pocket. Tony and I went into one of the tents that have weird objects. Here are some of what we saw.

4-horned sheep

The line for the Ferris wheel was waaaayyyy too long so we only got to ride the Air tram thing (1-way). It was pretty to the fairgrounds at night all lit up.

We ended up leaving around 10:00 for so I think. We had fun. There were some rides I wanted to go on but no one would got with me.. SISSY's..lol. Just kidding! It was okay. I was just glad to get away and go somewhere other than here. Thank you Tony for a day of FUN!

Today, we went on our field trip to the Corn Maze in SW. City. If any of you know where that is at you know the road there is not great. I got car sick on the way home with the AM class and puked at the school. I did better with the PM class. The rain held off which was a great blessing!!! However, I am now exhausted! I'm done now.

I'll post the engagement pics once I get them.
